The Canine Lifestyle Companion Program from Canine Lifestyle Services was created to take a more comprehensive approach to raising a puppy.
Rather than simply teaching commands, we focus on raising and developing the whole dog — behavior, confidence, manners, communication, social skills, grooming, household expectations and the ability to comfortably participate in everyday life.

MORE THAN PUPPY TRAINING
Traditional puppy training often focuses primarily on obedience:

Those skills are important, but they represent only one part of raising a great dog.

TWO WAYS TO BEGIN
You Already Have Your Puppy
If you have already selected your puppy, we can take over the puppy's early raising, training and lifestyle development.
Your puppy lives and works with us through a structured program designed around their age, temperament, breed characteristics and individual needs.
This allows us to establish consistency during an extremely important period of development while removing much of the day-to-day work of puppy raising from your shoulders.
You aren't simply sending your puppy away to learn a few commands.
We are helping establish the foundation for the dog that will eventually share your life.

Choosing the right puppy begins long before training.
For clients who have not yet purchased a puppy, Canine Lifestyle Services can assist with locating and selecting a puppy from a quality AKC-registered breeder.
We consider much more than appearance.

GROOMING & HANDLING
A lifetime of grooming and veterinary care is much easier when handling expectations begin during puppyhood.
As both a professional dog trainer and experienced professional groomer, Marko incorporates grooming and handling into the developmental process.
Depending upon breed and coat requirements, puppies may be conditioned for:
Brushing and combing
Bathing

Clippers and grooming equipment
Standing appropriately for grooming
For grooming-intensive breeds, this can become one of the most valuable foundations established during puppyhood.

Ultimately, our objective is to create a dog that can become an enjoyable participant in your lifestyle rather than a dog whose behavior constantly dictates it.
YOUR PUPPY'S DEVELOPMENT RESIDENCY
The Canine Lifestyle Companion Program is designed as a progressive residency rather than a traditional board-and-train program.
Each stage builds upon the one before it, allowing your puppy's training, confidence, independence, social development and lifestyle skills to mature alongside the puppy itself.
While every puppy progresses differently, the residency is structured around three primary phases.
PHASE ONE
Foundation Residency | First 30 Days
The first month is where we begin establishing the puppy's new foundation.
During this intensive stage, we focus on creating structure, communication and predictable expectations while helping the puppy confidently adjust to new experiences.
Development may include:
Household structure and routines
Potty and crate training
Early obedience foundations
Leash introduction and communication
Handler engagement
Appropriate socialization
Environmental exposure
Confidence building
Independence and settling
Grooming and handling conditioning
Appropriate boundaries and impulse control
This phase establishes the foundation upon which the remainder of the puppy's development is built.
PHASE TWO
Companion Development Residency | Months 2–3
Once the initial foundation has been established, development begins moving beyond introductory puppy skills.
Training becomes more purposeful. Expectations increase. Environments become more challenging.
The puppy begins learning how the skills established during the first month apply to real life.
Depending upon the individual puppy, this phase may include:
Advancing obedience and leash skills
Increased duration and reliability
Structured public outings
Greater environmental exposure
Appropriate behavior around people and dogs
Developing social neutrality

Household manners
Calm behavior outside the home

PHASE THREE
Extended Companion Development | Month 4 & Beyond
For owners who want a more extensively developed companion, residency can continue beyond the initial 90 days.
This phase allows us to continue developing the dog as it matures and begins navigating adolescence — a period when consistency, boundaries and continued training become especially important.
The focus shifts increasingly toward reliability, maturity and lifestyle integration.
Development may include:
Advanced real-world obedience
Greater reliability around distractions
Continued recall development
Expanded public experiences
Travel and vehicle manners
Increased freedom with accountability
Advanced household manners
Continued social neutrality
Maintaining grooming and handling standards

The longer a puppy remains within the program, the greater opportunity we have to influence not simply what the dog knows, but how that dog learns to live.
EVERY PUPPY DEVELOPS DIFFERENTLY
Age alone does not determine when a puppy is ready to progress.
Breed, temperament, maturity, previous experiences and the owner's eventual lifestyle all influence development.
For this reason, the Canine Lifestyle Companion Program is intentionally individualized.
Some puppies may return home after establishing a strong early foundation. Others may remain through multiple developmental phases.
Our goal is not to rush a puppy through a predetermined checklist.
Our goal is to develop the best Canine Lifestyle Companion that individual puppy is capable of becoming.

Puppy development is not a one-size-fits-all process.
Program length is determined by several factors, including:

Some owners may want assistance establishing an excellent early foundation.
Others may want their puppy to remain with Canine Lifestyle Services through a more extensive portion of adolescence before transitioning home.
We will discuss the appropriate development period during your initial consultation.
TRANSITIONING YOUR PUPPY HOME
Our involvement doesn't simply end when your puppy goes home.
A professionally developed puppy still needs an educated owner.
Your transition process is designed to help you understand the communication, structure, expectations and routines your puppy has learned while living with us.
The goal is not simply to hand you a trained puppy.
The goal is to help you successfully continue the lifestyle that puppy has learned.

A Canine Lifestyle Companion represents what we believe companion dog ownership can be when selection, raising, training and lifestyle are considered together from the beginning.

LIMITED RESIDENCY AVAILABILITY
The Canine Lifestyle Companion Program is intentionally limited in the number of puppies we accept at any one time.
Puppy development requires time, consistency and individual attention. To maintain the level of involvement this program is designed to provide, we do not operate it as a high-volume training or boarding service.
